Co-Founders Paul and Joyce Kahkonen established Bahr Hardware in 1985 in the village of Eighty Four, Pennsylvania. The idea was to be an "old fashioned" hardware store with a dedication to service and a commitment to continually stocking what their customers need and want.

After more than 30 years in business, a move to Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, in 1990, and two additional moves within the borough to improve location and accessibility.

Jason and Missy Boland bought the store from Paul in January of 2021 and still maintain the original intent while remaining independent and family operated.
